I went with my bro the other night to the Capitals game against the Nashville Predators. This Caps team is much improved but not hitting on all cylinders. In fact, the Caps start slow every year. This year there is a bunch of expectations heaped upon them although many people see the Penguins or Montreal getting to the finals out of the Eastern Conference.
Just watch and wait till around Thanksgiving time. That’s when the Capitals have always seemed to wake up and start playing some serious hockey. Speaking of the Capitals, Alexander Semin is playing like a man possessed. Is there a better player in hockey right now?
Dennis Dillon on Sportingnews.com has the Redskins ranked fifth on his list of teams likely to make it to the Super Bowl. What is alarming is he has the Diva filled Cowboys one spot ahead. Seriously! I mean, seriously! (Just got done watching Grey’s Anatomy with my wife…). I agree the Cowgirls are loaded but this team reminds me of the old Yankees or Red Sox team that had the 25 players taking 25 cars to the stadium. Translated: The team has no chemistry. remember, we get the Cowboys at home on the 16th of November. I believe (and not because I can’t stand the Cowboys) that the playoff drought will continue for the ‘Boys. Right now, I’d have to say the Titans are the team to beat in the NFL. They are a lot like the 2000 Ravens squad. Great D & O-line, good run game, and an aging QB (sorry Trent…) who makes few mistakes.
Seriously? – Katherine Heigl
One thing to remember about this week’s upcoming Redskins game against the Steelers is this. In the last 16 of the last 17 elections (that’s 68 years), the last Redskins home game before the national election has correctly predicted the winner. If the Redskins win, the incumbent party retains the Big House. If the visiting team wins, then the challenging party has taken the White House. The only difference was 2004 when the Packers beat the Skins 28-14 and John Kerry lost to George W. Bush by a slim margin. Just something to keep in mind.
Did you seriously have to bring that up? – John Kerry
At the seasons halfway point there is one alarming statistic that stands out. The D, although they play great team D, only has 10 sacks. I don’t know about you, but that is pathetic. Is it because the linemen in the league are so huge and Andre Carter and Jason Taylor are undersized? I don’t know all of the facts, but they have gotten some pressure on the QB, just not the sacks. Coach Blache had a great line today. He said in his afternoon presser that the D ‘couldn’t sack groceries‘ which is simply claaaasic. Love the weekly Blachisms.
So, fellow sports fans I leave you on this week’s midweek roundup with three questions:
1. Who is your pick for the Super Bowl? Has the pick changed since the beginning of the season?
2. Who is your MVP of the league (NFL) so far?
3. Will the Titans go undefeated during the regular season?

I suppose Obama had a lot to do with Steelers defense kicking our ass. I was at the game and they are the real deal on D
